Freeze-thaw near the water is hard on sealant, and a crack that starts in fall keeps growing all winter. Book a fall check before the unit parks and a spring check after the melt. Those two visits catch problems while they’re still small.
Should I tarp my trailer for the winter?
A breathable, properly fitted cover helps. A hardware-store tarp strapped tight usually hurts: it traps moisture against the roof and chafes the membrane every windy day. A sound, sealed roof can handle the snow, so that’s the part to check in the fall.
